Heather Started the Renaissance English History Podcast in 2009, making her an early pioneer in podcasting.

A random thing started over the long Labor Day weekend in 2009 led me to national radio interviews, and speaking gigs. I'm even mentioned in some academic papers on the history of podcasting. But podcasting was just the beginning. The Renaissance English History Podcast grew to a large community, books, live episodes recorded in England, and eventually, Tudorcon, my brainchild, a three day history extravaganza.

The business I built out of my passion:

  • The world's first Tudorcon, with over 150 people convening in Lancaster PA every autumn to learn and share their knowledge
  • Books, including the yearly Tudor Planner, and Sideways and Backwards, a Novel of Time Travel and Self Discovery
  • The world's first online Tudor Summit, a live event online featuring speakers and a thriving community. The Tudor Summit would grow into Tudorcon.
  • A Shopify shop with creative print on demand merch, with sales of 6 figures in the first year
  • A weekly radio show for a station in the UK with Tudor music and history
  • A thriving community of over 50,000 followers on social media
  • Crowdfunding and self publishing the Tudor Planner every year

Random fun fact: This history reference website I built in 1998 hit #1 on Yahoo. When that was a Thing. Note the super cutting-edge doodle bullet. Website screengrab courtesy of the Wayback Machine.
